Station features

The 2LINE NGS can be customised to your requirements in terms of the colour and appearance of the sandwich panels. You can choose from a range of surface finishes: lined, micro-lined, smooth and W-lined. The unit is insulated with a mineral fibre core (rock wool) and is placed on top of a pre-installed concrete base or a steel tray.

Outdoor EVU - Power connection

The meter connection column can be integrated into the façade, making it accessible to the energy supplier from the outside without the need to grant access to the technical area. Various meter types are available, including electronic household meters (eHz) and three-point mountings. Installation is carried out in accordance with the energy supplier’s specifications and requires their approval.

Transport and logistics

The PoP station is delivered to the installation site, including transport and crane services.  As it weighs only around one-sixth of a conventional PoP, there is no need for heavy-duty transport, a heavy-lift crane or an escort vehicle. On-site support completes the turnkey handover.

Climate control

The insulated cladding of the PoP station improves energy efficiency by reducing heat transfer. This means that less cooling capacity is required, which saves operating costs - naturally in compliance with all legal requirements.

Door and access

The 2LINE NGS is optionally equipped with electronic access control and an RC3 resistance class door - for increased burglary protection and secure access control.

UPS

The main distribution station can be fitted with an uninterruptible power supply (UPS), the backup time of which is tailored to the customer’s specific requirements. The rectifier and battery capacity are designed to meet the required power output. The UPS compensates for power fluctuations and outages by temporarily supplying connected devices via the batteries. Photovoltaic integration is available on request.

ODF system

At the heart of the PoP station is a modular optical fibre distributor that ensures cable routing in line with bending radii. It is available in versions with up to 42 U (3,024 ports) or as a special size with 33 U (2,376 ports). Features include intelligent patch cable routing, cable feed from above or below, mirror-inverted design and a flexible, lightweight construction. Delivery is pre-assembled and ready for connection according to customer requirements.

Splice/patch modules

The 2LINE ODF HD modules are pre-assembled units with pigtails and couplings, available in 1, 2 or 3 U. Each compressed drawer offers 24 connectors - with up to 9 drawers per module, depending on the version. LC connectors are used, which means that up to 3,024 ports can be achieved with 42 U and up to 2,376 ports with 33 U. Miniflex hoses secure the loose tube feed, while patch cables and fibres are routed with bending radii. The modules are also available mirror-inverted.

2LINE Optical Distribution Frame ODF 220 Active

Optical distribution frame

2LINE ODF 220 Active

The distribution rack for active technology enables the installation of 19’ or ETSI components and offers integrated patch cable routing, either on the right or left. Available in standard sizes up to 42 U (2200x900x300) or as a special size with 33 U (1800x900x300), it impresses with its modular design, flexibility and short assembly times. The doors are equipped with a swivelling lever for a locking cylinder, and the side panels provide a secure side closure. A mirror-inverted structure is also possible.

Installation

The ODF system and the distribution rack for the active equipment are installed professionally at the factory, as is the commissioning of electrical components such as air conditioning and UPS systems. All work is carried out in accordance with the applicable VDE guidelines to ensure the highest levels of safety and functionality. The turnkey handover then takes place on site.

Concrete crawl space

The concrete crawl space is designed to ensure safe cable routing and to accommodate excess cable length. Cold air from the air-conditioning system is channelled directly to the active equipment via the wooden raised floor. Standard heights are 60 cm or 80 cm. Alternatively, a version without a raised floor but with additional cable space is available. The crawl space can be constructed as a partial crawl space, a full concrete crawl space or as a steel trough.

HSI150 K/X

The HSI (Hauff Snap-In) modular cable entry system is used to insert pipework into the 2LINE PoP station.

Internal EVU - power connection

The power connection within the 2LINE PoP station is made via an integrated sub-distributor, which means that no separate housing is required on the outside of the station. This ensures a compact and space-saving solution.

Cable duct system

The 2LINE cable duct system is available both in the version for mounting on top of and below the ODF system. It is based on a flexible, modular plug-in system and is available in various elements - straight, right-angled and in different lengths. The patch cables are routed in compliance with the minimum bending radii, which are ensured by protected insertion elements in the racks. Installation is simple and requires no special tools.

Monitoring system

Optionally, the PoP station can be equipped with a comprehensive monitoring system that includes a door contact, smoke detector, motion detector, water sensor, temperature sensor and an RFID reader for access control. A surveillance camera can also be installed to further increase the security of the station.

Next Generation Station (NGS) - Modular PoP Station for Broadband Expansion

The infrastructure for the fiber optic networks of tomorrow
Modular, secure and ready for rapid deployment – the Next Generation Station (NGS) provides the foundation for high-performance, future-ready fibre optic infrastructure and broadband network expansion.

Challenges in FTTx Network Expansion

The expansion of modern fibre optic networks presents major challenges for network operators and infrastructure providers.
Projects need to be deployed faster, available space is limited, and at the same time the demands for security, reliability and sustainability continue to increase.

In addition, technical infrastructure is becoming more complex – from active network components to power supply and climate control systems.
What is needed are scalable infrastructure solutions that combine all these requirements efficiently, reliably and future-proof.

Turnkey main distribution station for modern fibre optic networks

The Next Generation Station (NGS) has been specifically developed to meet the requirements of modern fibre optic infrastructure. It combines modular construction, intelligent technology and high security standards in a compact, turnkey solution ready for rapid deployment.

Whether used as a network node, PoP site or distribution point, the NGS adapts flexibly to your project requirements and provides a reliable foundation for high-performance broadband and fibre optic networks.

Advantages of the NGS for fibre optic network expansion

Maximum Flexibility
Customised configurations and modular expandability provide a tailored solution for a wide range of fibre optic infrastructure applications.

Efficient Deployment
Short delivery times and a well-engineered prefabrication concept enable rapid installation and commissioning.

Optimised Transport
Thanks to its compact design, the NGS can be transported without the need for heavy-duty cranes or special transport permits.

High Security Standards
Comprehensive fire protection and intrusion protection ensure reliable operation of critical network infrastructure.

Future-Proof Energy Integration

Applications of the modular technical control unit

PoP-Station in the broadband market

In the broadband market, the NGS serves as a PoP station, also known as a main distribution frame. All customer fibres are provided via plug-in connections, meaning that different network operators can also be flexibly connected to the fibres as required.

Mobile phone masts

At the base station, the few fibres from the network are made available to each mobile base station. xWDM (wavelength division multiplexing) is frequently used in mobile cable networks. This means that different signals are transmitted over a single fibre and made available at the mobile base station. The transition from 4G to 5G has changed the way mobile networks are cabled. Instead of backhaul (baseband unit at the mobile base station), fronthaul structures (centralised baseband unit) are being deployed.

Mini data centres, e.g. on company campuses

Data is increasingly being processed in a decentralised manner – directly on company campuses and in industrial facilities. Small mini data centres must meet the same requirements for security, power supply and availability as large data centres.

The Next Generation Station (NGS) offers a modular, turnkey solution for this purpose.

Steering the energy transition

The energy transition requires not only more energy, but also intelligent grid management. This calls for high-performance telecommunications and fibre-optic networks to transmit data in real time and manage specific parts of the grid.

With its modular design and integrated technical infrastructure, the Next Generation Station (NGS) is ideally suited as a decentralised control centre or communications hub.

Control systems and cable housings

Cable stations are connection and junction points for cables along the motorway. These stations also house technical control units for traffic management.
